Queensberry Featured Album {Josh + Michele, Firestone Winery}

Occasionally I like to post about the amazing albums that we make for our clients. Queensberry is a world class album company located in New Zealand. I have been offering their distinguished hand made albums for the past few years. Not all of my clients can afford such a luxury as the Queensberry album, but those who do are not disappointed. These custom designed books become priceless heirlooms that couples can share with generations to come.

Josh and Michele were married at the Mission and had their reception at Firestone Vineyard in Santa Ynez. It was a fabulous day, from start to finish. To view their images check out their featured wedding on my blog.

The 7 inch digital duplicate albums are great for parents. Josh + Michele were able to give these as Christmas presents.

Renaissance The Book {Perales Wedding}

Now that I am not shooting a wedding every weekend I have time to showcase a couple of the amazing albums we have created this season. Luis + Erika chose Renaissance The {SoHo} Book for their wedding album. To borrow the description from Renaissances website The {SoHo} Book is {A contemporary coffee table album for showcasing full-page prints. Unique and unrivaled in presentation, The SoHo Book uses seamless page craftsmanship to generate its distinctive style. The SoHo book is available in a selection of Silks, Leathers and a Metal Cover.}

When I first met with Erika she knew she wanted a flush mount style book with a smooth black leather cover. What is so amazing about this book is its ability to present a photograph spanning the entire length of the album. Talk about getting the most out of a picture!

My Wife!

My wife was and is the most beautiful bride ever! The hardest part of not photographing our wedding was watching the sunlight and wind dance through her golden hair while she was standing in the greenest field ever and not having my professional camera. Jeff Newsom did a perfect job, but as a photographer, when I see beauty I want to capture it myself.

Well, thanks to Eagle Castle Winery, I got my chance to photograph my most beautiful bride. This image was printed on a 20x30 canvas for the castle. They will have her on display in the tasting room I believe. If you happen by for a taste of their most excellent wine go check her out. I mean don't check her out. You know what I mean. ;)

Queensberry Album: Garrett + Ashlee

We just received Garrett + Ashlee's Queensberry album from New Zealand and we are so pleased with how wonderful it turned out! Queensberry is by far the most sophisticated, elegant and timeless album company in the world (in our 'professional' opinion). This album is designed here in our studio and sent all the way across the world to be printed, matted and bound exactly as we created it to be. There is really no limit to the design except our creativity. We try to keep the pages simple and profound. We strive to show off each image as an individual work of art that can stand alone while demonstrating the power that a group of images has to tell a story.

I love the way we can insert flip pages so that the album can open up revealing 4 panels of images spanning a length of 60 inches. The pages above of Ashlee riding in the horse drawn carriage to her groom open up to reveal different moments of the ceremony displayed sequentially in the 2 pages below.

These next to layouts were actually images we shot a month after their wedding. It turned out that we ran out of light and time on their wedding day to take beautiful portraits of the bride and groom. Instead of pushing it we decided to do another shoot at the golf course another day so that we could have a dramatic climax for the album. I am so thankful they agreed to dress up again for an after-wedding-shoot! Check out the full story here.

We also love the 7 inch parent albums that are exact flush mount replicas of the full album complete with flip out pages.

Canvas-ses Rock!

I just want to give a shout out to one of my favorite lesser-known products; the Stretched Canvas Print. For centuries Canvas has been the proudest way to display a work of art. People are constantly amazed when they come into my studio and see prints as big as 40x60 inches on my wall and canvases stretching across a wood frame at 20x30 inches. A common reaction is surprise mixed with amazement. Digital photography has come a long way in the past 10 years and the public is still learning all that it can do. Well, here is a little example of the potential that digital photography has to create works of art. I have a emotional connection with my photography because I see it as art so I get really excited when someone also sees it as art, orders a canvas, and displays it as art on their living room walls for all to see. So, go ahead... order a Canvas or two; make my day!

Oh and a couple rules of thumb when ordering a canvas.
1. Go BIG OR GO HOME!
2. You don’t need a frame. (not sure if that is a rule...maybe more like an option or advantage ;)
