Expecting a Miracle named Asher!

San Luis Obispo, Maternity photographs of Cameron + Anna Ingalls taken by Michelle WarrenOur fabulous friend Michelle Warren offered to take some proper maternity photos of Anna and I. We photographed Michelle + Ben’s engagement pictures a couple of years back, so it was fun to trade places and be on the other side of camera. We love Michelle’s fine-art style, but more so -we LOVE Michelle. Thanks for capturing us in this special time of expectation, joy, and sprinkles of anxiety!

We can’t wait to meet our sweet baby Asher. We are convinced he is going to be mellow, loving, and good looking of course. This whole baby making stuff is certainly crazy business and it is such a wonderful miracle. We have about a month more to go and the birthing-window gets blown wide open. We will be posting baby images as soon as we can. Just hang in there; Asher needs to cook for a little bit longer.

My Baby Mamma

San Luis Obispo, Maternity photographs of Anna Ingalls taken by Cameron Ingalls A lot of friends have been asking about Anna. It’s sweet really; that so many people care about how the pregnancy is going and how Anna is holding up. Well, when anyone asks me I always say she is doing AWESOME! As far as pregnant women go, she is a rock star. Other than some expected pain, a little heartburn, and the occasional sleepless night, she is counting down the days until she gets to hold our sweet baby, Asher.

It has been so fun to watch my wife fall head-over-heels in love with our son as he has been slowly growing inside of her. Many days I will catch her sitting in the rocking chair in Asher’s room daydreaming about the days when he is here filling our home with baby smells and sounds. Anna will say to me, “I just love him soooo much! I can’t wait to hold him!”

For me this process has been different; as is normal with new fathers. It’s more of a detached process for us because we aren’t feeling the effects of a human growing within us 24/7. However, as I have spent time watching Anna’s belly grow it has become more real to me. And I still remember feeling him kick for the first time; it was like witnessing a shooting star! Now his kicks and spins are so strong I can not only feel her stomach move, I can see it! I like to talk to him and sing him silly songs through her belly button. Often times he kicks back and makes us laugh out loud.

Anna is 8 months along and we hope that Asher will make his grand entrance into this world somewhere around November 15th. Right now he is all developed and about 4 pounds. He should gain a half pound each week and will hopefully top out at about 7.5 pounds before he delivers. Hopefully!!!

I just love watching how beautiful Anna has become through this whole process. She is already a wonderful mother and I just know that Asher will adore her! It will be awesome to watch her embrace all that God has made her to be through each new stage of parenthood. I’m her biggest fan!

Falling in Love... Again!

Morro Bay pregnancy pictures of Anna IngallsBeing pregnant I’m learning is like falling in love all over again.

Anna especially has become infatuated with this little person that she is slowly getting to know growing inside of her. There is so much mystery and suspense that she says it feels like when she fell in love with me and then like when we were engaged planning our wedding. Such anticipation and excitement!

It is so fun to watch Anna feel such a connectedness to our boy Asher. As a dude it’s more difficult to connect because my body isn’t growing a man-child. However, I have been recently able to feel him kick when I put my hand on her belly late at night. It is pretty incredible to feel our little babie’s shape and to catch his occasional kicks or punches. I told Anna the other night that feeling my baby kick is like glimpsing a shooting star.

I took these pictures when we walked Morro Bay last week during our date night. We are really trying to do a date night each week to keep our romance alive and kicking. The real challenge will come when Asher does. But we are committed to pursuing each other’s heart through the years and the continual busy-ness.

Well, I just wanted to keep everyone updated on our baby-making progress. Anna is glowing with a womanly beauty that is evident to anyone who comes in contact with her. I am thrilled to watch my new wife become all that she was created to be as she enters this new stage of motherhood and I can’t wait to very soon meet Asher Ingalls!

2 Years and Counting!

Today marks Anna’s and my two year Anna-versary! This is what we look like after two long years of love and marriage. Pretty good, huh?!

We have so much enjoyed learning the way of love through the adventures and trials that have graced our path so far. People always say ‘the first years are the hardest’, or ‘marriage is hard’. I just think that life is hard. Life is good, but it can be hard too. Selflessness is what’s really difficult. That’s where the hardness is at! I can be such a selfish person. (especially when I’m hungry and tired ;)

Two years ago we committed our hearts and lives to one another. Making that commitment felt amazing that spring day with the sun shinning and our family and friends gathered in that green meadow out in the back hills of Arroyo Grande. However, living that commitment day-to-day can hurt… It can hurt my pride and my selfishness. But that’s why making a commitment is so amazing because when feelings and emotions turn ‘the love boat’ into a love-roller-coaster the commitment is the track that keeps us grounded and moving forward.

So I am thankful for these couple of years. They have been good, they have been hard at times, but mostly a whole heck of a lotta fun! Anna is my bestest friend in the world, the love of my life and the wife of all my days. I am thrilled that I get to ride this roller-coaster-love-boat side by side with the lovely Anna Ingalls. Thanks my bride for saying ‘yes’ two years ago and thanks for saying ‘yes’ every day since.

If you haven’t experienced any of our wedding memories yet, check out our slideshow, our Super 8 Film and even some sweet medium format shots!

Film is Not Dead

The one and only, awe-inspiring Jose Villa just posted these sweet shots from our wedding on his blog. He originally came out to shoot Super 8 video but couldn't leave the medium format camera at home. We ended up with some bonus images that are breathtaking and as 'fine art' as 'fine art' gets. It's a little weird seeing my wife and I looking all elegant and very 'Jose Villa'.

Jose is an incredible photographer and an amazing new friend. Even after the wedding industry turned to digital Jose has held on to his love and passion for the look and feel of film. Almost unexpectedly this has created a niche for Jose as a 100% film shooter in an otherwise digital industry. There have been countless articles published about Jose's work and he is beginning to speak across the country about the continued relevance of film.

We are both thrilled and honored to have Jose in our lives as an inspiration and a friend.

Just Married!

Well, we are home at last and getting started with this new married life stuff. We had a wonderful honeymoon and a perfectly amazing wedding day! Anna has been busy nesting ever since we returned a week ago. I am back in full swing gearing up for a busy year of engagement sessions and weddings. So many exciting weddings to come!

These are a few shots that I took with my Canon Elph while exploring the city streets of Vancouver, Canada. It was such a lovely place. We spent many romantic rainy walks under the umbrella and cozy evenings playing double solitaire in front of the fireplace. It was just what the both of us needed to detox after a busy 4-month wedding preparation rush.

We flew into Vancouver, took a ferry ride across the water to Victoria island, and caught a bus ride downtown in search of our first bed & breakfast. After the bus dropped us off we were a little lost. Anna is either consulting a map or People magazine. Not sure...

Here we are having 'high tea' at the Butchart Gardens. It was a very girly day walking through the acres of gardens and finishing our day off with tea and crumpets. Anna was in honeymoon heaven! I kinda liked it myself.

If I ever shoot a wedding in Vancouver I will make the bride and groom go to this alley in Gas Town for photographs... I'LL MAKE THEM! The contrast of color and black & white would be right up my alley... literally. ;)

Anna likes to make me pose for pictures anytime she thinks I look cute or something. Then she say's 'SMILE!' This is all I give her.

We ate...drank...and were marry.

A little 'Time Crisis 2' to liven things up. We spent $20 and almost won... almost. This is my favorite arcade game!

I was stabbed through the heart with a love straw!

I will post a little recap about my wedding and all of the wonderful people that made it possible later. We still can't believe that everything turned out as amazing as it did. As Anna says 'See... God really love's us.'

I'm Getting Married!!!

In just a few hours I am getting married! I'm really really really really excited! So pleased to start spending the rest of my life getting to know my best friend. Everything has come together amazingly...miraculously really. So many people have pulled together to make my wedding possible. We are getting married in the most beautiful field out in the middle of nowhere. The owners call it God's Country and it truly is. This is the field where we will be wed this afternoon. Jeff Newsom will be posting some shots of the big event within the next couple of days. I will be out of the country enjoying my HONEYMOON for the next 2 weeks. If you are interested in booking me... please be patient. Email me and I will followup when I return from Canada.

Here's a little clip from the bachelor party. Simon Jones jumped through the flaming Christmas tree. It was a big hit!

15 days and counting...

I can't believe I am about to get married! Planning a wedding is crazy...can I get an ‘amen’?! We had to change our venue at the 11th hour and these amazing people out in Huasna are allowing us to get married in 'God's Country'. I am so blessed by how much friends and family are coming together to support us out through this whole wedding day experience. Kinda reminds me of the old days when families threw weddings down the road at the park and moved it to the folks backyard for bbq and beans. I think the industry has spoiled a bit of opportunity for community to pull together for the big day. But I digress. It's late. I should be sleeping...but I'm getting married in less than 2 weeks! Who can sleep?!

Here are my favorite engagement pictures ever that I didn't take. The ever-amazing Jeff Newsom is the man behind the lens once again. He astounds me always. We are close friends and fellow photo-nerds. A lot of people mix us up occasionally thinking the amazing wedding photos they saw somewhere were mine and I end up having to tell them they are Newsom's. I don't get offended when I am mistaken for the greatness of Jeff's work. Just challenged a bit to continue pushing the limits and capturing people in new and more creative ways. This was a really fun photo shoot (couple of photo shoots) where we set up his gnarly lighting rig for the sweet scooter shot. Check out his work. He's the best!
