Nicki + J {Hollywood}

Nicki and J’s engagement session in Hollywood by California wedding photographer Cameron IngallsNicki is my sister-in-law’s sister. Which makes me her sister’s brother-in-law... so I don’t know if that makes us sisters, brothers or what but it pretty much means we are family! They cruised me around the Hollywood hills and down into the heart of the city for their engagement pictures. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding very soon! J is a Reggae rocker and Nicki DJs clubs on the side. Music and art deeply who they are and I am honored to use my art to capture them.

Wedding Photographers like to party

I just returned home from Las Vegas where I hung out with thousands of awesome wedding photographers. This video of Jeff Newsom and The Mammoth Men singing karaoke sums up the highlight of my trip. If I ever get sad I am going to revisit this happy place and all my worries will fade and my sorrows disappear. My wedding photographer and best friend, Jeff Newsom, brought the Hard Rock Hotel’s house down Tuesday night when he took the stage to sing a Queen cover. This may shock some people, but this is the Jeff Newsom that I met over 10 years ago in high school when we both were in bands that played together. Ahhh…. It was so good to see Newsom back on stage. He hasn’t lost it one bit!

Zoe + Peter {San Luis Obispo + Santa Margarita}

Zoe and Peter got married at the Mission in San Luis Obispo and then had a beautiful reception in the back hills of Santa Margarita. It was so much fun to work with them and celebrate their marriage with their family and a lot of my friends. It’s fun working a wedding once in awhile where the couples friends are also my friends. I feel like I’m bringing people I love to my job, which already is too much fun! Love you guys. Enjoy your newly wed days!

Stealing wishes. ;)

Happy Valentines Day!

We just returned home from a lovely Valentines date day to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The day began with a nice pancake breakfast and then we headed up the 101 to our secret date destination. Anna had no idea where we were going until we drove under the Monterey sign. She was thrilled! It was really sweet to just spend the day together and celebrate the gift of love. Here we are on the beach where we had our picnic lunch. These shots are from Anna’s grandmother’s Polaroid camera, which I am beginning to fall in love with!

Katie + Derek {San Luis Obispo}

These guys made me lol pretty much the entire time we spent together. What a delightful couple Katie and Derek make! Derek brought his sweet firebird for a few pictures; always romantic to have your girl in one hand and your guitar in the other. When I asked them if they were a band what instrument would Katie play, she said that she would sing and play tambourine. They actually tried that out for awhile, but it didn’t work. I would have loved to hear them play and sing together! Maybe next time we hang out. ;)

{Jackson's Smile} Give the gift of Smile; Buy a Photograph!

I love people! It’s because of my love for people that I became a wedding photographer in the first place. I photographed Daniel and Halle’s wedding a few years ago. Preceding news about their pregnancy was exciting but worrisome because of possible complications revealed by the ultrasound. It has been moving to watch as this family has struggled to care and nurture this beautiful little guy to health and stability. It hasn’t been an easy road and definitely not one that a young married couple anticipates when they become pregnant. However, It has been a beautiful tragedy; one that has grown the faith and love of Daniel, Halle and many of their family and friends.

Jackson's smile wasn't free like most little boys. He was born with a rare syndrome called “Simpson Golabi Behmel” as well as a cleft lip and palate. His smile has cost hundreds of thousands of dollars thus far. Jackson has already had two major surgeries in just his first year of life. He is destined for a childhood of plastic surgeries, not to mention other surgeries to address the various anomalies associated with his extremely rare syndrome.

In an effort to give more than just a few bucks, I have come up with this photography project -Jackson’s Smile. I decided that to GIVE BIG, I would ask my friends for help. Each month we will feature and sell beautiful photographs donated by some incredible photographers to raise money to offset the mountain of medical bills that result from giving Jackson the chance to have a healthy life; to have the chance to smile.

This month we are excited to feature the wonderful work of Jose Villa; a great photographer and a great friend of mine. When you get to know Jose you will discover that he is a generous and all around fantastic person -not to mention a wonderfully talented fine art film photographer! His inspiration comes from the beautiful countryside surrounding his home in the Santa Ynez Valley as well as his homeland around Guadalajara, Mexico. All of the images featured in Jose’s gallery were taken with his medium format Holga camera. These are just a few samples taken from his gallery.

We are so blessed to have so many people that want to be involved! My wonderful web designers 805 Collective, my fantastic print lab, ProDPI, and my friends over at NextProof have generously donated their time, software, and equipment to make all of this possible.

Now its up to you. Please subscribe to Jackson’s Smile so that you can keep up with news on Jackson’s progress and our featured photographer’s galleries over the coming year. Please support Baby Jackson and purchase a print or two!

*A portion of the proceeds will go directly to support more kids like Jackson at the Craniofacial Center at the Children’s Medical Center Foundation of Central Texas.
