Matthew + Elizabeth

Matthew and Elizabeth were such an easy couple to work with! They loved me so much they flew me clear across the country to shoot their wedding in Winter Park, Florida. It always makes such a difference when a couple really appreciates my work and style. They really trust me and allow me to be creative and have fun. As a result we got awesome pictures of them and their bridal party. Since their wedding took place in a train station I milked everything I could out of the train tracks. I took this same picture of their lower halves standing on the tracks the night before when they were just in their regular hipster outfits. We had to be especially careful because a train came by at least a couple times an hour. I am happy to say that no one was hurt in the making of these pictures. ;)

This is Kate Bosch. I shot her wedding last summer in Satellite Beach, Florida. Kate's maid of honor at the time was Elizabeth. This year Kate was Elizabeth's maid of honor and that is how I came to Winter Park... Just a little inside fact. Check out pictures from Kate's wedding last year here.

Winter Park, Florida

Anna and I returned from Florida Sunday Evening. We had an amazing time with Matthew, Elizabeth and their people. I grabbed them after the rehearsal Thursday evening and took them behind the train station to snap a couple of engagement shots. It's weird not shooting a couple's engagement pictures weeks or months before the wedding. I really value engagement sessions because they take the awkward-edge off and give us good practice together. It's also a great time to develop relationship. Well, we had about 15 minutes and they totally worked it! I knew we would have even greater pictures the next evening. P.S. I LOVED Elizabeth's rehearsal shoes! Will post some wedding shots a bit later.

Jose Villa's Super 8

Words. Words can't describe the gratitude we feel towards Jose Villa for shooting Super 8 at our wedding. The moment I saw this medium I fell in love with it's timeless nature and it's ability to convey emotion through movement and song. It is the icing on our wedding memory cake. Every time my wife watches this she has to be holding my hand and she most certainly always sheds a few tears! The perfect thing about this medium is the fact that it is completely share-able. If we had a 30-60 minute wedding DVD, I highly doubt that most of our friends would bear sitting through a showing. The complete edit is less than 12 minutes with a few songs highlighting all of the significant moments of the day. Gina at Lola Video edited it perfectly and made up this abbreviated version for blog-ability. Thank you Jose! And thank You Gina!

I recently bought my own Super 8 camera and will be offering the service in the future to all of my wedding clients. It has infected my creativity and I can’t wait to start shooting it!

Jose and I had a shoot off during the family pictures. I think I may have lost. My digital elf was no match for the power of his Contax!

Planning a Wedding is CRAZY!

Planning a wedding is a crazy amount of work. Most anyone reading my blog right now knows that it is not easy because most likely you are planning your own wedding! Being in the industry I had an unfair advantage of knowing exactly whom I wanted to do what way before I popped the question to my lovely lady. Hiring people for your wedding can either make or break your day. It’s important to find the right people who are have high standards of professionalism, customer service and style. Since I just went through the craziness of my planning my own wedding I would love to share with you the amazing people who used their talents and creativity to make our day exactly what we have dreamed it to be. While there were countless friends and family who pulled together to help us out I am going to focus on professional vendors who are in the wedding industry specifically. This 'thank you blog' is long overdue!

First things first. We needed a logo. A 'Cameron & Anna' logo. My web designer, Seth Roberts, was the man for the job. I photographed our tandem bike and he rendered it into a drawing. His wife wrote our names all-fancy to finish it off. The symbolism behind the tandem bike is teamwork. It takes teamwork and trust to ride tandem AND to get married. I bought Anna a tandem bike a year ago for Valentines Day and I discovered quickly that I had a lot to learn about loving and trusting. Our friend Ben Brown over at Ally Company screen-printed these ties for the groomsmen and I.

For our wedding invitations I wanted something really different, not too standard and somewhat artistic. My friend Jaime Merz who designed my business logo helped us out for the invitations. She did an amazing job and really captured who we are even through the invites. Every bit of text we had to stamp with rubber stamps she had made for us. It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun! Thanks Jaime. You are the greatest!

To be honest Anna was a bit stressed out about finding a dress that I hadn't seen before. She really didn't want to look like every other bride that I have photographed in the past 5 years, yet she wanted to look like herself. Which makes it even more crazy that she found a stunningly perfect dress the first place that she went, Down The Aisle in Arroyo Grande. The ladies there are simply incredible and took amazing care of Anna from start to finish! Jennifer Blue Allen from ‘Something Blue’ did her alterations to make it ‘fit like a glove’!

Anna isn't one of those girls who likes a lot of make-up so she really had to be selective when choosing a make-up artist. Our good friend Amy Robinson (Hair stylist and Make-up Artist at Ashe Salon Downtown) did a perfect job, not too little, not too much. Simply glamorous!

Brooke Jones from Reveal Salon rocked the ladies hair styles. She also cuts both Anna and my hair on a regular basis, but I was confidant enough to style myself on the day of. ;) Brooke is a really sweet friend and also the wife of my assistant, Simon. More brides should hire Brooke to do their hair, especially when travel is involved... so that Simon and I can bring both of our wives!

Anna had a specific look she wanted to create for her jewelry and had it custom made at this awesome little jewelry shop downtown called La Crème. Kelly, part owner and jewelry creator designed it with Anna in under 3 weeks! It was very antique yet modern, which is completely Anna's style.

Speaking of jewelry... we put our heads together with Matt Moreman over at Kevin Main Jewelry to design our wedding rings. After we talked about what we thought would be really cool, Matt made up a design and emailed us an AutoCAD version of it for approval. From there we made some minor modifications and he made the molds. We stopped by the shop for one last look at the molds before the casts were made and the gold was poured. After the gold had set they hand-etched the vines that scroll around the ring's parameter and polished them up to perfection. It took a long time, but we absolutely LOVE our rings now because they are so personal.

Jessica Cheatwood did the flowers. I was actually the best man in her wedding years ago because she married a good ol' friend of mine. Jessica has such a fresh and creative way of arranging flowers to make them personal little works of art. She has promised me for years that she would do the flowers at my wedding, which made me so excited to finally call her and commission her for the job.

Jeremy Davenport from Eclair Bakery in Arroyo Grande made us the most amazingly beautiful and tasty wedding cake that I have encountered in all my days. I know I am sounding dramatic, but it's true! I shot Jeremy's wedding about 4 years ago when I was a brand-new wedding photographer. They got me at such a deal back then that they have promised me all these years to bless me back with the world's greatest wedding cake. Well...they finally did. And check out that tandem bike topper made of chocolate!!! We couldn't believe our eyes...or our stomachs!

Phoenix Fine Catering rocked our reception with some delicious wild mushroom lasagna. Everyone raved about how amazing it all tasted! After I first contacted Jennifer from Phoenix I realized that I totally underestimated all that their service entailed. When I asked about where to get tables and chairs she promptly replied, 'We'll take care of it.' When I asked about honey-huts and space heaters she said, 'We'll take care of it.' When I panicked about the fact that there was no power at our new venue (3 weeks prior to the wedding) she calmly replied, ‘We’ll take care of it!’ They not only served our guests amazingly tasty food, but they co-coordinated our reception and took care of all of our rental needs!

Being a wedding photographer I figured what better way to decorate our venue than to use humongous prints of Anna and I of our engagement pictures. My incredible print lab, Pro DPI, gave us our wedding present in the form of all these great enlargements that decorated our tables and walls at our reception. Here is a picture of Jeff and Caitlin singing a song to get their dinner while holding some picture party favors printed out at their professional digital photography lab. These guys have been the hugest blessing to my business and make what I do and the high level of quality I have for my prints possible.

My friend Joel Toelbert, AKA 'Snag' rocked the night away with our sweet dance tunes. Being a musician was a plus because he was able to set up and run the sound for my bros who played the intro music. Snag even jammed along on the steel guitar. It sounded great from the ceremony all the way into the reception. Snag didn’t work alone however, and had our friend Cory helping out at the DJ table. The highlight of the dance party was for sure the break-off between Snag, Cory, my brother-in-law Toby, and my friend Simon. It got criz-zazy! So if anyone is looking for a fresh break-dancing, guitar playing DJ, be sure to hit me up.

Last but not least... the awesome Jeff Newsom shot all of these pictures! He has been a dear friend since the start of my business and is the closest thing I have had to a partner. If he weren’t such an incredible wedding photographer, I would have totally wanted him to be standing up there with me during our wedding. Jose Villa actually took this shot of the 3 of us, but I will post about him later.

Here is a fun video of Newsom in action. I couldn't resist bringing my camera. Everything was so beautiful...especially my bride!

I hope this blog entry helps people out a bit. I wanted to sincerely and publicly thank all the vendors who did such a spectacular job (ME TOO!!! We are forever grateful!....Anna). I also wanted to share their contact information with you because if you hire any of them for your wedding you won't be disappointed!

Meet Chris + Lindsey...

Lindsey is kinda like a little sister to me. Her parents, Pat and Lori, have been very influential in my life for almost the past 10 years. Her parents helped me a lot when starting my business to ‘think business’ by being confident, setting high standards for excellence and charging what I am worth. Even more so, her parents have had a profound effect on the future of my marriage and especially on my relationship with Anna. We spent almost 14 weeks in pre-marital counseling with Pat and Lori. What an amazing time that was for us! We would recommend everyone delving into the deep level of counseling that we had prior to tying the knot…but that is another story entirely.

Lindsey met Chris when he came over to her house one day to ‘shoe’ her horse. I’m not exactly sure if that is the correct terminology for horseshoeing, so please pardon my blasphemy. However, it was something like love at first shoe and now Chris has the love of his life and Lindsey has a horseshoe-er for life! ;) It’s much more romantic than that… I just forget most of the details.

Well, Chris + Lindsey are getting hitched in October so we had an awesome adventure cruising around Santa Ynez for their engagement pictures. What beautiful valley Santa Ynez is! It has really retained a bit of that old West charm. We stumbled upon an old gas station that people have preserved outside of their home.

Chris trashed-talked Lindsey a bit when she challenged him to a bubble-blowing contest. He couldn't stop laughing when we attempted to time their bubbles together for a photo. Chris failed the contest miserably but we got some fun shots of him laughing!

Here's a shot Lindsey insisted upon getting of my wife and I. It's fun to be on the other side of the camera evey now and again, especially with such a beautiful girl!

Happy Mother's Day!

Here is a friendly reminder that I found on a gate at The Dana Power's House a couple of weeks ago whilst shooting a wedding. I really should call my mother more. I can't imagine having a kid that lives 30 minutes away and rarely seeing him. Thinking about this whole 'Mother's Day business' I realized that everyday is 'Kid's Day' and we only celebrate mothers once a year. Up until our 18th birthday we get 6,552 days devoted to us as kids and moms get a measly 18 during our childhood lives. Kinda jacked if you ask me! Unconditional motherly love is really something priceless that we will never be able to justly repay. So this goes out to my most amazing and selfless mother as well as mothers everywhere who are undervalued and underappreciated, THANK YOU!

Today we are taking my mother to the Elfin Forest for a picnic overlooking gorgeousness. Picnics are one of her favorite things! I will try my best to be extra special nice to my mother today...considering it's her day and all.

Jerome + Rebekah

Jerome + Rebekah are getting married on the famous date seven-seven-of-OH-seven! I don't know how many inquiries I have had about this date, but if I could have booked them all I wouldn't need to work the rest of the year! I am really excited that it was Jerome + Rebekah who got me for this most popular date. They are an incredible couple who has been through a lot recently since Jerome had a motocross accident that broke his back 2 years ago. Rebekah tells me that the positive way Jerome has embraced life since the accident has resulted in much inspiration and hope to all that they know and love. I know that I am encouraged to remember that life is a gift and everyday a privilege.

Their wedding is taking place at Jerome's father's house, where we took their engagement pictures. It is a beautiful secluded house on top of a mountain overlooking a part of San Luis I think I have only viewed from an airplane. They love to have BBQ parties here anyways and since the house has undergone a bit of remodeling they have had to hold off for a season. Which means... this is going to be the party of all parties for their family and friends! Jerome even invited me to bring my shotgun as they are planning a skeet-shooting hour. I cannot wait!!! It will be really cool to get shots of Jerome and Rebekah holding shotguns in full wedding attire. I might have to get a couple of real shots myself of some flying skeet. Stay tuned…

I just recieved this email from Rebekah. I truly believe that LOVE is divinely powerful and I am excited to see all that it will accomplish in this miraculous relationship!

"Our story.... hmmm. Jerome and I were both friends for three years prior to realizing that we were made for each other... both of us were completely in the dark as to how well we would fit each other. My group of friends and His group of friends all went on trips together, celebrated Holidays together and basically hung out together all of the time. However, Jerome and I never got a chance to hang out alone and really get to know each other personally. I don't really know how it transitioned but after three years of being acquaintances, we began to hang out separate from the group....then we realized that we really enjoyed each others company and so WE began.

Then a month after we decided to be exclusive Jerome went to race the Baja 1000, in Baja Mexico and that was when Jerome broke his back. Being that we were still such a new couple I didn't know what to do...should I go to San Diego? Would Jerome want me there?... but then I realized that no matter where we would go romantically I knew that I wanted to be there for Jerome as a friend, so I flew to San Diego as soon as I found out where they had air lifted him. That was the beginning of building the best relationship that I have ever found or known. Jerome and I just got closer and closer, I never knew that I could become so close to someone. Going through what we went through, could in some cases cause strain on the relationship, but in our case, we just became stronger. Jerome, in our minds, will walk again. His spinal cord was not severed in the accident it was just really, really bruised. When he crashed he laid there for four hours waiting for the helicopter to come and get him. I believe that if he were in the United States Jerome would be walking today, but then we would have missed out on the experience...the ride that we have been on these last 4 years. Neither one of us would change it for the world. Everything happens for a reason... Jerome and I believe that completely. Thank you, Cameron for sharing this with us!! We are soo excited to have you and Anna be part of our wedding."

Ethan Chase; Nephew #4

Since I'm on the topic... Allow me to introduce you to my newest family member; Ethan Chase Kriwinski. He is a soon-to-be. It looks like he will be making his big debut within the next few weeks. Joel and Morgan are my new brother and sister! I am so excited to be adopted into my wife's family because all of a sudden my family just quadrupled!

Getting married has changed my life in so many ways... including my business life! I am a completely new man. Anna has come in and organized my office, my books, my business. It has been such a relief to share my passion and work with my best friend. Perhaps one of the most exciting aspects is Anna's desire to begin using the camera. She actually shot this pregnancy session! I just went along to back her up and help her out. Only 2 of these photos are from me. The rest are 100% Anna Ingalls! Five bucks to the person who can tell me which 2 are mine.

Can I just show and tell for a minute? Thanks.

Two years ago when Anna and I were pretending to the world that we were 'just friends' my friend Kenny Morgan gave me an encouraging word over some coffee about my wife-to-be. After I denied any 'serious' interest in my best friend Kenny asked me some pretty direct questions like... 'What is it that you want in a wife?' While the list included many qualities that Anna possessed one of the biggies was something that Anna claimed to not possess; creativity. Kenny boldly shared what he was seeing.

He told me, 'Cameron, Anna is fertile soil. Whatever you sow, you will reap a hundred fold. You want a creative wife? You sow creativity.'

Then he dropped the bomb.

'Anna is a woman who you probably underestimate now, but one day... say when you are like 35, you are going to realize all that she is made up of and all that she is capable of. And on that day you will find yourself desperately aware that you are not worthy!'

Wow! Chills ran up my neck and I had that feeling that Kenny's words were not his own.

Well, today is our 2-month Anna-versary and I am already seeing such a multiplication of the few seeds of creativity that I have sown in my lovely wife. It is becoming quickly evident that she has more creativity than she ever dreamed. She is a quick learner. She shoots engagement sessions with me and has been practicing on our nephews.

It’s funny because back when we were just friends she would sit by me at my computer and ask all kinds of questions about how I shot pictures and how I processed those pictures in Photoshop. She always asked the best questions and I thought it was because I was immensely interesting. One day I asked her why she always asked so many questions, she told me calmly… ‘It’s because I’m going to steal your business.’ And that she has...along with my heart. ;)

We are thrilled to meet Ethan in person! Come out... Come out... Come out!!!

Uncle Sauce

I love being an uncle! Getting married has initiated my adoption into uncle-dome. I have a niece, 3 nephews and a 4th on the way. We had such an awesome spring day Sunday afternoon with the Delmore tribe over at our house. Katie squeezed about a hundred lemons to make lemonade from our trees in the front yard. Wyatt did a lot of smiling and drooling while the two other boys were running wild shooting bee-bee guns in the backyard and hitching scooter rides with their dad and me.

Oh yeah, they call me ‘Uncle Sauce’. It started with my random nickname ‘Camsauce’ which they used to call me in the pre-marriage stage. The oldest kid, David, couldn’t wait to call me Uncle and often got scolded by his mother because he started with the ‘Uncle-Sauce-business’ while Anna and I were still just dating. Now they can call me Uncle-whatever-they-want-to and I love it!

Wyatt is un-officially sponsored by Toothless Heros.

Here is the Delmore tribe (minus Wyatt) in all their glory just 2 months ago at my wedding.
