Wilson + Stacey!

Wilson and Stacey were married at the coolest cement and stained glass chapel last weekend! Their reception was at the Kohl Mansion just minutes South of San Fransisco. Stacey's family is from the area, but Wilson and Stacey live in New York. I had the pleasure of shooting their engagement pictures in New York when I was out there in November for a wedding. At the time I had just proposed to my wife and they were one of the first couples to hang out with us as 'newly engaged'. It was really fun sharing our fresh story with them in New York at that cool little bakery in Greenwich Village. They shared their love story and we shared ours. It was just a real pleasure to photograph this couple on two different coasts.

The whole vibe of their wedding was celebration and love. It was amazing; there seemed to be absolutely no stress at all. Stacey was calm and peaceful, a true professional bride! They were both a bit nervous being the center of attention, but pulled it off beautifully. Enjoy some of the highlights!

This is a picture of Vision Church, Wilson and Stacey's church family that came all the way out from New York. I shot off a couple of shots of them and then Wilson called for a Chinese portrait. Immediately everybody’s faces went dead-pan. I was thrilled as I quickly pulled out the fish eye and got this serious shot!

Here are some more beautiful shots that we got in the gardens of the Mansion. This bridal party was so much fun!

Email Down!

As of last Friday my email 'cameron@ingallsphotography.com' officially broke. Which means... if you sent me an email to my this address I have not recieved it. I appologize if I have appeared to be non-responsive or even snobby. ;) I'm not really sure why my old email has stopped working but investigators will be working to solve the mystery. Until then you can call {805.471.7056} or email me at my new and working email address: cameron@cameroningalls.com.

Ben + Michelle

We had a blast shooting Ben and Michelle's pictures last week at (what appeared to be) an abandoned Arroyo Grande home that I have had my eye on for months now. When they asked me where we should go for their engagement pictures this place jumped to mind. I have been waiting for the perfect couple for this beautifully dilapidated pink house. When we walked around the house and found a trailer, a green couch, and some broken windows I realized that it was a far more amazing location than I had even hoped.

I met these two a couple of years ago when they moved here from Santa Barbara. Michelle had graduated from Brooks Photography College and migrated North for a quieter more peaceful place to settle down. Michelle Warren is an amazing film and digital photographer! You can check out her website here. She is an ace at photographing families and children and has a real elegant feel for her weddings.

Well it's about time Ben and Michelle tie the knot! They are getting married next Thursday!!! Jose Villa will be shooting the wedding and I am sure he will follow up with some breathtaking images. You will have to keep checking his blog in a couple weeks if you hope to see some from their awesome day.

Me in action. I think I look good blurry.

Oh yeah! And here is a polaroid that Michelle took of us after dinner at their house. She said she actually brings this camera to her weddings. So cool!

The Elfin Forest

Frank and Tundey are getting married in about 12 days now! We had such an adventure through the El Moro Elfin Forest of Los Osos. Tundey took us on a long walk through the woods and under some heavy brush to find this enchanted location. On first look the forest simply appears to consist of 6-10 foot tall shrubs. They are not shrubs, however, they are Pygmy Oak Trees. Why they don't call it the ‘El Moro Pygmy Forest’, I do not know!

To get to this location we actually had to duck under the heavy branches of the Pygmy Oaks that extend all way down to the ground floor. You wouldn't know that such beauty was hiding within the covering. The moss hung everywhere just inches above our heads. I was completely over stimulated by the beauty and tranquility of the place. I am constantly amazed at the beautiful and diverse locations just in my ‘backyard’ and the amazing people that I get to meet.

Speaking of backyards... I can't help but shoot in my backyard every once in awhile. Can you believe this is downtown?!

I love the engagement sessions because I really learn so much about the couples that I serve. I learned a little something about Frank just moments before this picture was taken. I learned that Frank and my wife have a common obsession/fantasy.

As we parked at the base of Bishops Peak Frank timidly asked me, “Do you ever take pictures of people with animals?”

Not knowing exactly what he meant I replied, “Yeah sometimes. Mostly people want shots with their dogs, but it's not really my thing.” Frank longingly gazed out the car window to the hillside of green grass and grazing cattle. “By the way, why do you ask Frank?”

He then confessed his fantasy, which led me to the profound understanding that my wife is not completely crazy, “I want a pet cow.”

I laughed out loud and told him that MY wife has made me promise that someday she can have a pet brown cow. While our backyard may look like acres, it's really only a couple of yards deep. The cow will have to come later in life. Much later!

As we ventured up the hillside a cow looked right at us, uttered a loud 'MOOOOOO......' This particular brown cow then proceeded to walk directly behind Frank and Tundey as if on cue. Maybe Frank will hang this picture on the wall to give him hope that one day Tundey will allow him to have his dream pet. If anyone is looking for that last wedding gift for this couple, consider a little something special for the groom. ;)

Film is Not Dead

The one and only, awe-inspiring Jose Villa just posted these sweet shots from our wedding on his blog. He originally came out to shoot Super 8 video but couldn't leave the medium format camera at home. We ended up with some bonus images that are breathtaking and as 'fine art' as 'fine art' gets. It's a little weird seeing my wife and I looking all elegant and very 'Jose Villa'.

Jose is an incredible photographer and an amazing new friend. Even after the wedding industry turned to digital Jose has held on to his love and passion for the look and feel of film. Almost unexpectedly this has created a niche for Jose as a 100% film shooter in an otherwise digital industry. There have been countless articles published about Jose's work and he is beginning to speak across the country about the continued relevance of film.

We are both thrilled and honored to have Jose in our lives as an inspiration and a friend.

Shot of the Day

I had an amazing E-session with Doug and Megan! What a fun and beautiful couple. We shot about a mile from my house in San Luis Obsipo at Cuesta Park. I captured many romantic and awesome moments, but I do believe that this toped them all! We enjoyed a nice breakfast after the shoot at Big Sky and talked about relationships, married life, books, and God. I had a great time getting to know these two and I am convinced that they have what it takes to work through and enjoy married life for the rest of their lives! Can't wait for your upcoming wedding!

Due to a special request from an 'uber-fan' here are some more of the sweet shots we got from our outing together.

Olivia

I love my new wife! We have been super busy adjusting to living together and merging our lives and businesses since our return from the honeymoon. It is such an adjustment living with a woman! I know that I have a lot to learn and am grateful that I have the rest of my life to do so.

One of the real interesting things that we have discovered recently is that Anna becomes partner with me not only in life, but also my business. Since Anna is so great with children we figured why not put her to work photographing babies! Here is the result of our first shoot together. Most of these pictures are Anna's; she did fantastic! This beautiful little girl Olivia belongs to Dennis and Michelle, a couple who’s wedding I photographed two summers ago. I will find a shot from their day and post below.

Here are the proud parents long before Olivia was even a twinkle in their eye. ;)
