James + Kate {Danville}

Anna and I love traveling to the San Francisco area to shoot weddings. So when Kate told me that her wedding was at the foothills of Mt. Diablo in Danville, I was thrilled. It turned out to be one of the most beautiful and magical ceremonies ever! James and Kate got married in Kates parents backyard. Instead of renting out a venue for one night, I think Kates father decided that his money was better spent on something he could keep after the wedding. He is a very smart man. I mentioned before when I blogged about their engagement session that they are a bit into the fantasy and renaissance theme. The backyard was decked out with flagstone, flowers, pine trees, and an occasional smoking caldron. Did I mention the pig roasting over the open fire? There was even a brass dragon clutching the top of the chimney. It was… amazing!

James is still a skater-kid at heart. So it was natural that we shot his groomsmen at the skatepark across the street from the hotel. James made sure to take it easy so that he didn't break anything or ruin his suit before the ceremony.

It turns out her caterer and coordinator built complete tables out of tree branches and recycled wine barrels. They used no nails or screws, just balance and a lot of weaving through holes.
