Welcome...Wyatt James Delmore!

I'm not all about birthing or the human anatomy these days and yet my friends Ryan and Sarah Delmore just can't stop reproducing! So, my girlfriend Anna (Sarah's sister) has me come to the hospital to drop off a sweater for her before the babys born and I honestly felt like I was being tricked into being there for the whole messy birthing process!
I took a few pictures and got out before things started emerging. By the time my hair was cut and some errands had been run, Wyatt had arrived into this world around 3:30pm.

Upon my return to the hospital I took some more pictures... this time with Wyatt outside of the womb. And then i got to hold him and it seems to makes sense why people love babys so much. They can do nothing but trust you and accept all the love that is showered upon them. They are like perfect little people.... and then they learn to speak.

Here are a few shots of little Wyatt James Delmore. I think this is the shot of they day, however, taken be my lovely lady herself. Anna knows babys... being an auntie of 4 and all. I should totally hire her. ;)

Omega finally got married!

...and I can only say this because I was Omega's roommate for a year. We shared an awesome house in Cayucos where we could see the ocean from our front room. I've always known Omega to be this rogue, independent, surfs when he wants, works when he wants, hangs out when he wants. Over the years I've known him we have become good friends, the kind that can go for weeks without seeing each other and then its like it hasn't been weeks.

Well, I guess everything changed for Omega when he met Kristin. She was the girl next door (yes, our Cayucos beach house) and he recounts that she had a boyfriend at the time that he began to take notice. One afternoon they ran into each other and she delivered the news that she had broken up. Omega didn't waste anytime. They became fast friends and I began to see them everywhere together.

Getting to know Kristin I have found her to be an amazing woman and the perfect compliment for my friend Omega. She is integerous, generous, compassionate and adventurous. Did i mention she races motorcycles for fun?! She is almost too much for Omega to handle...almost. She is definitely too cool. Here are a couple of my favorite moments from their day. It was an honor to be a part of my friend's day!

All I can say Omega.... is, She WILL get you back!

Denton & Sadye!

Sadye just stopped by to pick up her engagement pictures while Denton is in Big Sur having his bachelor party. I am just as excited about how these pictures came out as I am about getting to know these awesome new friends! I shot these pictures a couple of weeks ago on a cloudy afternoon roaming about San Luis. We first hit up an old warehouse a block away from my print lab, Digital Precision Imaging (love them!) ...Then we meandered over to High St. Deli. Upon our journey over to the deli, an amazing spiderly limbed tree in a grass field caught my eye. We pulled over and jumped out of the car to get a couple of shots under this tree. A man yelled at us for standing in the field he was about to mow so we skee-daddled over to the deli, laughing about how grumpy some people can be. Once at the deli, the magic moments started flowing like honey from heaven.

Denton & Sadye just lit up in front of the camera; thoroughly enjoying themselves and each other.

Sadye described it as being completely confident in who she is with Denton and in front of the camera. She was determined to not back down, but to completely be herself and not apologize. I really think she should give a seminar or something for Brides-to-be. It can be such a foreign thing to have a guy shove a camera in your face then to act natural and kiss your fiance and play all cute and lovey. But when you let love and life take over you are bound to get images that reflect the soul. Images like these........

Denton & Sadye are getting married in just 2 short weeks! I can't wait for the wedding. Their personalities, creativity, and love for one another are going to make it such an amazing day. I am honored to be able to capture their memories...

Dani Johnson .com

I just got back from a 24 hr trip to Northern California. I did a 4 hour commercial shoot today for Dani Johnson's website, products, and promo materials. This woman is an AMAAAAZING business trainer who speaks around the world to business owners, CEOs and anyone who wants to grow as a leader. To quote her website, "Learn how a young, broke cocktail waitress went from living out of her car with $2.03 to her name to earning her first million in 2 short years!"

I'm actually shooting Dani's wedding renewal this September. When we talked on the phone about her wedding, she asked me (begged me) to take some commercial portraits of her. I tried turning her down regarding the job because i don't typically shoot commercial work in studios... Truth is, I've never shot in a studio period! She was persistent enough and awesome enough that i couldn't refuse. I was a bit nervous venturing out of my comfort zone of 'on-location photography' and the beautiful, familiar backdrops that San Luis has to offer year round. But I knew in my heart that I to choose risk over comfort in order to grow.

Driving up last night I listened to Bruce Wilkenson's The Dream Giver on CD. Bruce shares a parable about a Nobody who wakes in the middle of the night and realizes that he has a Big Dream in his heart. This Big Dream with the help of the Dream Giver encourages him to leave the land of familiar and venture through the wastelands in pursuit of the promise land. I really related to this Nobody because a few short years ago I too set out to discover my promise land. Well, the clentcher of this story of me driving to Twainhart to shoot a commercial session for Dani Johnson has to do with the last chapter of The Dream Giver. 'Nobody' discovers a little gate in the back of his now comfortable promise land. He had never noticed the gate until now. Suddenly he hears the Dream Giver whisper, "Come closer." Upon stepping through the gate Nobody felt a familiar fear return as he ventured into unfamiliar territory. The Dream Giver encouraged him to trust once again as he was going to lead him further into the dream that he had for Nobody's little life.

So, today I ventured out of the familiar that my promise land has so quickly become and tried something new. It was a risk. I was nervous. But what I have learned from starting a business on my own is that it's always better to trust in the goodness of the Dream Giver than the safety of my couch and box. It is always better to step out in faith. And.... If I am getting too comfortable, then something is wrong because living the dreams of the Dream Giver is always more exciting, it's always deeper water, it's always something I'm not quit prepared for and it is always so rewarding!

International Color Awards

Congratulations to my good friend Jeff Newsom! Both of us entered a small number of shots to the International Color Awards and one of Jeff's shots (of me) was nominated. This is an amazing accomplishment as this contest judges photographers from around the world and awards a select few as 'Masters of Color'. I've always known Jeff to be a Master in many areas especially his newest found passion of photography. He is one of my few Photographer heros and an awesome friend! Last year he began his wedding photography business and has quickly swept the Central Coast by storm, landing the coveted cover of our local bridal magazine; The Central Coast Bride, and booking a slew of weddings to keep him busy for the rest of his life. I vote Jeff as Master of Color.... Master of Photoshop.... Master of Photography. He just wins. I eagerly anticipate all that his lifetime will accomplish in this field. Just wait until the world discovers Master Jeff Newsom.

East & Waiting CD Release Show

My good friend Joel is leaving 'Hotel Cameron' today for his home in Oklahoma City. He used to live in SLO and when he did he would frequently crash at my place. We have gone on a few adventures together over the past few years of our friendship. Coming home from an airport one New Years Day Joel asked me what my dreams for that year were. I told him that I wanted to become a full-time wedding photographer. By the end of our conversation he challenged me to not only dream that year, but to really LIVE my dreams that year. That September of 2004 I took a huge leap of faith and quit my day job in order to 'live my dreams'. It was risky going into the winter months, but I knew I couldn't balance both jobs any longer. I had already booked 7 weddings for 2005 and was praying for more. By January of 2005 I had up to 20 weddings booked!!! ...and I remember stumbling around in a daze thinking, 'how am I going to survive?'. Well, I did survive 2005 and by the end of it had shot a total of 42 weddings! My dream had become a reality. I will always remember Joel's challenge to live my dreams, to not make excuses, and to trust that my life is a part of a greater and bigger dream of the ultimate dreamer, God himself.

Well, the whole reason I am telling you this story about my friend Joel's move to Oklahoma City was a part of his determination to live out his dreams. His amazing new band East and Waiting and this just released album 'Love is still near' is his dream lived out. This is a powerful album that speaks of heartache, loss, and most of all the hope that love is greater than a feeling, that it is stronger than death........That it is still near.

I'm proud of you Joel. Thanks for being the friend that sticks closer than a brother and for always believing in who I was created to be.

Some other awesome bands played that night as well. I really love all theses guys and their music is amazing! Check out all the photos of their May 3rd Show at Downtown Brew:

Global Night Commute

On April 29th of 2006 thousands of people all over the globe joined forces to bring awareness to a humanitarian crisis that has been happening right under our noses for a good 15 years. In Uganda Africa there is an army of children, abducted children that are made to murder and commit various atrocities in a rebel army's war. 2 years ago 3 young college students visited Uganda, discovered the story of the Invisible Children, made a documentary, and are leading a world mission to bring education and safety to the Night Commuters who travel 5+ miles every night to sleep in a crowded bus shelter in order to avoid abduction.

More than a week ago... Thousands.....and yes....Thousands of people hit the streets and walked to their town square to sleep together for one night to bring awareness to those who do it every night. the focus of Global Night Commute was to be noticed by the local media, to write letters to the Government, and mostly to encourage people to live lives that are spent making a difference, bringing positive change, and addressing social injustice around the globe. In a highly distracting culture of entertainment it was amazing to see so many people get out of their comfortable mansions and castles for one night of sleeping on the ground with hundreds of strangers.

I caught this one little boy writing a letter by lantern light,
"Dear Mrs. Boxer, Please help the kids from Uganda. From Noah Benson."
Even the smallest voice can be heard. I was struck with emotion when I thought of the kids his age for whom we were demonstrating. Noah Benson could have very well been born into a society where human life is not protected and where the children are invisible.
